From the Catholic Charities West Virginia Central Region
Thank you to everyone that joined us at the 13thAnnual Communities of Salt and Light Awards Dinner on April 17th. It was our pleasure and honor to recognize Sister Priscilla Weidenschlager, Jim & Shirley Bobela, the Morgantown Magnificat Service Team and the many people nominated by their peers. Salt and Light honorees exemplify the teachings of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ document, “Communities of Salt and Light: Reflections on the Social Mission of the Parish.”
We would like to thank Chris Sharps for taking wonderful photos at the event. We welcome each of you to browse and download the photos at your discretion. Click here to view photos of the event
The Communities of Salt and Light Awards Dinner is a tradition of Catholic Charities Central Region. We are the only CCWVa region that holds this dinner to honor those that are the Salt and Light of the Earth. Each Catholic Charities Region has one major fundraiser to help fund their services to our most vulnerable neighbors. The Central Region has chosen the Salt and Light Awards Dinner as our major fundraiser.
Since July 1, 2014-June 8, 2015, we have served 8,430 people through our outreach centers. We have been able to help people in each of the Counties in the Clarksburg Vicariate (Doddridge, Harrison, Marion, Monongalia, Taylor, Preston and Barbour). We have distributed 163, 570 pounds of food, diapers, cleaning supplies, personal care supplies and pet food. We have distributed $3,365.59 in financial assistance for utilities and disasters.
We need the help of each one of you to continue to provide this service. Please consider supporting us at the 14th Annual Communities of Salt and Light Awards Dinner in April 2016. We are currently seeking sponsors of the event to help cover the cost of the dinner, venue and awards. If you are interested in sponsorship, please contact Kandi Shafer at 304-292-6597 or email@example.com.
