A Parish Social Ministry Youth Group from St. James Catholic Church in Charles Town, WV performs an ambitious yearly outreach program
to offer their labor to the poor in the central mountains of West Virginia.
This “work camp”, based in Webster Springs, offers youth and adults the opportunity for spiritual and physical growth through serving others.
Team members go into flood and storm-wearied areas to spend time cleaning, repairing, and rebuilding the homes of low-income residents.
Daily activities begin with Morning Prayer, followed by group projects of repairing and reconstructing areas of individuals’ homes, and end with Evening Prayer and group activities such as kayaking, swimming, music and dancing.
These kids sacrifice one week of their lives to change the lifetime of another.
