Seasonal Outreach

What We Do

Catholic Charities West Virginia understands that during certain seasons of the year the needs of special populations (i.e. children of low-income families, homeless, elderly).  CCWVa outreach offices around the state assess these needs locally, collect goods, gather volunteers and offer special distributions.

Services We Provide

Got your Back…Pack

A statewide initiative that strives to provide school children with all the necessary supplies to start the school year right.  A key element to this initiative is working in partnership with local organizations, businesses and county school boards to ensure that gaps in supplies are filled and reduce duplication of distribution.

Holiday Food Baskets

Holidays are a time for families and friends to gather and celebrate their blessings.  These gatherings are integral to strengthening families and benefit child development.  CCWVa outreach offices provide eligible families holiday food baskets to support these gatherings.  A key element to this assistance is the food collections, volunteers and donations that make these special distributions possible.

Cold Weather Outerwear

During the winter months clients may need clothing items that help protect them from the elements. Whether homeless, labor outdoors, travel by walking or public transit the added warmth from quality hats, gloves and scarves impacts their well-being.  Some of our outreach offices collect and distribute these items as Christmas gifts or throughout the winter months as needs are identified.  In addition, some CCWVa outreach offices participate in coat collection and distributions for children.

Christmas Angel Tree

Children feel valued and acknowledged when they receive gifts and celebrate.  This support is imperative to their development as full members of society.  In some cases families struggle to provide gifts and CCWVa and generous donors step up to offer this support on their behalf.  CCWVa outreach offices work in partnership with corporations, local businesses, donors and parish and community volunteers to collect and distribute these gifts the children.
