New Center to be Opened in Huntington

Catholic Charities West Virginia (CCWVa) has announced the opening of a new center in Huntington, W.Va. The Center for Community Learning and Advancement (CCLA) will provide academic instruction and supportive services to adult learners.

The grand opening of CCLA will be on Tues., Nov. 29.

“We are thrilled to be able to provide high quality academic instruction to adult learners in the Huntington community,” said Sara Lindsay, CCWVa Chief Program Officer. “We will also be offering wrap-around social services that will support adult learners in other aspects of their lives.”CCLA Building

Adult learners will work with both an instructor and a case manager from the time they begin the intake process through completion of the program. This team approach in staffing aims to ensure that each learner is being supported holistically and that goals are set that address barriers that interfere with work and education, as well as life in general.

“Sometimes life gets in the way, and that’s where we come in to help,” said Lindsay.

Case managers will provide resources and referrals to help adult learners reach their goals and discover ways they can help themselves along their path to success.

Members of the community are invited to attend an open house on Nov. 29 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at 901 5th Avenue in Huntington. Catholic Charities representatives will be onsite to provide an overview of the Center as well as additional services the agency offers to area residents.
