Catholic Charities West Virginia Continues Outreach Services in the Parkersburg Region

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. — Catholic Charities West Virginia (CCWVa) will remain in operation providing outreach services in the Parkersburg Region. CCWVa’s Parkersburg Regional office is located in the soon to be closed Volunteer Action Center (VAC). CCWVa administers several programs from the regional office including Mobile Outreach and WellnessWorks food pantry and emergency assistance; it also manages the Stone Soup Kitchen and outreach services in New Martinsville, W.Va.

Although the VAC’s closure was unexpected, CCWVa has been considering new space to accommodate its expanding regional services. Deborah Shaffer, CCWVa Parkersburg Regional Director said, “CCWVa has been fortunate to share office space with VAC for many years. VAC’s closure is unfortunate for the community, but CCWVa will continue to provide its vital services through this transition.” Shaffer continued, “We are still learning details of the transition, but phones are expected to remain active. However, if someone is having difficulty contacting our office, we can be reached by calling our toll free number 1-888-900-2989 or by email at dshaffer@ccwva.org.”

CCWVa’s Homemaker and Case Management services are located at 130 4th Street in Parkersburg and are not affected by the closure of the VAC building.

If someone has street access office space available in downtown Parkersburg, please contact Deborah Shaffer at dshaffer@ccwva.org for further details.
