CCWVa’s Promise House Family Resource Center Opens Its Doors in Martinsburg

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. – Catholic Charities West Virginia’s (CCWVa) Eastern Region is celebrating the grand opening of the Promise House Family Resource Center in Martinsburg on May 17 at 1 p.m. at the CCWVa office at 224 South Queen Street. The Catholic Charities Promise House Family Resource Center welcomes all families who are looking for support to help them build a better future.

The Catholic Charities Promise House partners and collaborates with community organizations to provide families access to programs and services that assist them with improving their circumstances. CCWVa Eastern Region Director, Trina Bartlett said, “case management services are being provided to families who are interested in making positive changes in areas such as education, employment, housing, transportation, budgeting and building relationships. Developing strong community partnerships is a key component of the CCWVa Promise House in order to address all the needs and reduce duplication of services.”

The CCWVa Promise House Coordinator, Kathie Campbell, is working with representatives from Berkeley County Schools, the Promise Neighborhood Initiative, RESA 8 Adolescent Health Program and the Children’s Home Society to provide resources to young people to help them grow into successful adults. “Research shows that the more developmental assets a young person has when they leave high school, the greater the probability that they will be successful in life,” said Campbell.

Most Rev. Michael J. Bransfield, bishop of the Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston, will bless the CCWVa Promise House with musical selections provided by the children’s choir from St. James the Greater Parish in Charlestown, W.Va. A reception will follow immediately after the ceremony in Lackey Hall at St. Joseph’s Parish in Martinsburg.
