Catholic Charities West Virginia – Mardi Gras Gala Nearly $90,000 Raised

WHEELING, W.Va. – Catholic Charities West Virginia (CCWVa) will host its fifth annual Mardi Gras Gala Feb. 14 at Wheeling Park’s White Palace at 6:45 p.m.

The gala is one of CCWVa’s largest fundraisers, and the organization is thrilled to have raised nearly $90,000. The projected attendance is a record for the event and CCWVa as well.

“These funds enable us to provide the biggest impact we can for our consumers,” said Patti Phillips, director of Development and Marketing for CCWVa. “Catholic Charities is thankful for all of the hard work and support we’ve received from our committee and from our sponsors.”

Jamie Bordas chaired this year’s gala committee. “CCWVa is grateful for the fundraising efforts by Bordas and all committee members, including top fundraiser Bernie Twigg,” said CCWVa Executive Director Mark Sliter-Hays.

The gala will be hosted by Most Rev. Michael J. Bransfield, bishop of the Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston.

The event will feature the Dave Banks Big Band, a powerhouse 17-piece swinging band playing big band, jazz, salsa and contemporary music. Renowned Chef Rocco Basil will also be returning to prepare a delectable menu, including Cajun food, bananas foster and more.
